Born in Catania in 1801, Vincenzo Bellini was one of the greatest composers of 19th-century bel canto.
Trained at the Naples Conservatory, he conquered stages across Europe with melodies of rare purity and emotional intensity.
Masterpieces such as La sonnambula, Norma, and I puritani made him famous during his lifetime, beloved by Chopin, Verdi, and Wagner. He died very young in Paris in 1835, at just 33 years of age, leaving behind an immortal musical legacy.
His art was a bridge between heaven and earth: simple in appearance, infinite in spirit.
